Match Report
On an extremely hot and muggy day, the much anticipated clash between CCC and DCC got underway, with a spot in the elite eight at stake. CCC won the toss and elected to bat. CCC's innings was dominated by Arun who slammed a memorable century under pressure. No bowler could make an impact on him as he hit 4s and 6s at will all around the wicket. Chipping in with contributions were Shankar, Yogi and Vijay but it was Prabhu, with a welcome and timely return to form, who helped Arun set the the stage for the huge total of 258. Arun and Prabhu shared a 94 run partnership that broke the back of the DCC bowling. After reaching his century , Arun opened up with a fierce onslaught despite fighting the heat and humidity. Even the normally economical Niranjan was hit for 20 runs in an over After the dust settled, DCC were left with the tall task of chasing 258.

After the break, DCC led by Ivan came out swinging determined to give CCC a dose of their own medicine. Ivan seemed to be in great touch, hitting Vijay for 3 consecutive sixes in his first over. Ivan's clean and solid hitting prompted Vijay to shuffle the bowlers and the fielders around, trying to get his much needed wicket. At the other end, Sanjeeva was giving Ivan good support, picking up the singles and twos with ease. It was at this stage that Shankar came on to bowl a magical spell of top class off spin and spun DCC out of the game. He picked up the crucial wicket of Ivan to start the slide, caught at deep widwicket. Four other batsman followed in the ensuing overs as Sanjeeva was left stranded at the other end. When Sanjeeva was run out going for a non existent second run, the match was all over bar the shouting. CCC wrapped up the tail soon after but not before Rahul had spanked some good shots for a quick 25. CCC's fielding was top class on the day, holding all but one chance and all fielders giving 100% in the field under a wilting sun. Special mention to Rajeev who valiantly kept wickets with a broken finger, even when Shankar was spinning the ball like a top.

Arun was nominated Man of the Match for his knock of 137 and 4 economical overs (1 wicket) .

Many thanks to DCC for playing the game in great spirit.
