Match Report
It was a perfect day for cricket at Shiloh on Sunday, July 01. Both DCC and KMCC were aware of the importance of this crucial game. Salman Afzal won the toss for KMCC and without any hesitation decided to bat first. KMCC decided to open the inning with Salman A and Shahid A.

Salman Afzal started from where he had left off against UICC and dispatched first ball of the inning from Niranjan to midwicket boundary. Niranjan quickly found his rhythm and started bowling an excellent line and length. On the other end Rahul’s accuracy rewarded him wicket of Salman A in his first over as his edged one onto the stumps. Rahul followed dismissal of Salman with wicket of Shahid Alam as he popped one to murli at squarish short midwicket. KMCC were in little bit of trouble with scoreboard reading 15/2 from 4 overs. Suhail, who has been in excellent form this season, was next man in to join Omar Shahid.

Both Suhail and Omar Shahid started to play cautiously. DCC opening bowlers gave nothing away and stuck to their line and length. At the end of first 10 overs KMCC had put on 35 for 2. A couple of good overs for KMCC had them at 50/2 when then first drink break was taken. Drink break seemed to have energized the batsmen as runs started coming with ease. As Suhail went down on one knee to launch a good length delivery from Siddarth over square leg, things started to get out of hands for DCC. Omar Shahid was playing with a great determination and kept on nudging the ball around for singles. Both batsmen were determined not to give their wicket away and also not to spare any loose delivery from the bowlers. KMCC’s run rate was on a rise and at the end of 24 overs they had scored 131 for 2.

After the break Suhail started playing his shots while Omar Shahid kept his cool and rotated the strike. Finally Ravi got Suhail to misqueue one to Pratik at square leg and provided DCC with a much needed breakthrough. Suhail played brilliantly for his knock of 84 and the pair put on 144 runs partnership. Ravi got another wicket in a quick interval as Kamran missed a straighter one. This brought on Shujah to strike who right away started hitting some glorious sixes. Omar Shahid’s excellent inning was also brought to an end by Ravi as he departed for 63. Shujah provided the much needed boost for KMCC (36* off 15 balls) at the end of the inning. After 35 overs KMCC had a respectable total of 224 on the board, in which fielders played their part.

After the inning break DCC started their chase with Mahesh and Ivan. Both batsmen were determined to score quick runs. Mahesh was bowled by Omar Shahid in 4th over on a peach of a delivery that came in sharply. After that wickets started falling for DCC, in the 5th over an incutter from Salman M dislodged the bails behind Ivan and soon after a superb direct hit from Omar A, who was fielding at midoff, found Pratik short of his crease at the batting end. A sharp “diving” catch from Omar Shahid off of Kamran’s bowling sent Shrinivas back. Rahul, the anchor man for DCC, was the next man in. Rahul batted until the end and was last man to get out.

Rao was the next one to get out, he was making sure to capitalize on the loose balls, however, he popped one to Kamran fielding on point off of Usman’s bowling. Kamran who has been in superb form, trapped Ravi to pull a short of good length ball that took his glove and ended in the keeper’s glove. Nirnajan was the next man in; he was determine to hit any ball that was there to hit on the legside. He dispatched a long six over square leg but soon departed as Omar Ansari got him to edge one to the keeper. He added 34 run with Rahul, it was the biggest partnership of the inning.

It was 97 for 7 from 20.3 over, Rahul played very smartly to keep the strike most of the time and last 3 wickets scored 50 runs for DCC. Partnership between Rahul and Murli was another highlight of DCC innings; they both added 30 runs for the 9th wicket.

KMCC fielders were amazing in the field; everyone of them gave in 100% until the end. Abdul Majid fielding at point saved certain boundaries while Imran Nazir did exceptional job keeping behind the stumps, there was not a single run from byes, although he stood up to the stumps for good period of time.

Man of the match:

Omar Shahid

Backbone innings of 63 (95) Runs - 5 x 4s - 1 x 6s
