Match Report
Nothing gets DCC more motivated than a loss. TGCC unfortunately were the next team drawn per schedule - a schedule that no one seems to make sense of. Anyways after losing and loosing to KMCC, DCC decided to bring their acts together without them intentionally intending!

TGCC won the toss and decided to test the DCC openers on a green track. Mahesh and Sanjeewa were mesmerized by the beauty of the ground and they decided it is best to relish it from the middle of the pitch. Both got their dependable acts together and saw off the shine on a slow wicket while chipping in runs. Then Ivan and Ashutosh decided to emulate Mahesh and Sanjeewa. Ashutosh worked hard to keep the flow going while Ivan ensured that the platform was strengthened. Then Saurabh came in and built a useful partnership with Ivan. It was nice to see the webguru adjusting to the variable pitch and striking the ball clean. The middle order played finally true to their paper potential. It looked like DCC's batting was coming together finally. Usually the next statemtent starts with a "But". But not this game! When Pratik's form continued to push the score high, DCC knew that the push was getting momentum. While Pratik added a productive 25+, Rahul played well and supported Ivan. Ivan went on a rampage towards the end having settled down very well and understanding the pitch all along. Two massive 6'ers by the Carribean got him 1 six closer to the century but alas, fate wanted him to score a ton only in the 3 remaining games! Niranjan and Rahul ran like horses in a derby to make 4 runs of what should have been a tight single. They almost made it to 5! DCC finished the polish at 217. Last 4 overs being belted like a 20-20 contest - something that has so far not been seen. An ideal game plan and execution by all DCC batsmen! Srini, Trip and Ravi didnt bat but their contribution was saved for the second half.

TGCC started off quite well and in 3 overs added 20 runs. Batting seemed lot easier but Mahesh and Niranjan knew it was just a question of time before their implacable line and length had to make something give way. Each dismissed a batsman. Rahul added another one with his tidy and consistent bowling. Then Srini made his presence felt when he removed the dangerman with a sharp piece of fielding following it with an accurate throw that did the damage. It was a price wicket. Ivan continued to bowl well. Trip came in and added another dimension of trouble to TGCC. He was simply making it uneasy to the batsmen and it was a question of time - if and only if the fielders supported. Finally, they lent the support with Niranjan and Pratik and Ivan holding on to good catches. Ravi also found his line and length right and bagged a much deserved wicket. TGCC struggled to 160 before the end came. Trip's spin got him 3 good wickets. A quality bowling attack was always going to make 200+ chase tough and TGCC tried to their best heroics. By the way, it was also a road game!

Good umpiring from HPCC ensured the contest was clean, fair and square. Now DCC has to decide whether they want to play like today or how they did against PTCC. They decided to go home thinking they lost ahead of the next one coming up!!

Umpire Report
