Match Report
Finally Sunday morning, DCC got a chance to get some real action. Niranjan and Nikhil shined the cherry and shined for DCC. The 48-year old veteran got on board first with his trademark ball. GHCC was sent on the back foot with Nikhil striking. Along with Mahesh, the number of balls that beat the outside edge soared to a million but none found the willow's edge. Seeing the slowness of the pitch, Pratik and Rohit exploited it to perfection. The run-rate was slow but GHCC went on to make 80 for 2 in 20+ overs. From then on, DCC bowlers attacked and choked GHCC. Rohit in particular was way too acurate that, as life would have, did not end his tidy spell with any wickets. Pratik rattled through the middle order and started retiring player after player. Then Nikhil came back and finished off the tail-enders with an impressive arm which fetched him the fastest 5-wicket haul since debut - a new DCC record. GHCC had slumped to 112 against a disciplined bowling attack from all DCC bowlers with only 2 batsmen making decent scores.

The only excitement to make a match out of the total, post-lunch, was whether DCC can create something like 18 for 3 in 9 overs. And, yes, Saurabh and Ashutosh decided there is no business in Greenville and headed back. Prasad, showed initial promise, but wanted to balance the game and pulled a rising ball to the keeper. Suddenly Mt. Mckinnly was visible. Pratik and Shrini chose to play for DCC finally and the strokes started flowing. They found the gaps and boundaries both creating and complimenting each other. With runs coming in from the experienced duo, the game started to slip away from GHCC. By the time Shrini departed, only a handful of runs were needed. Kiran threw his wicket but Niranjan finished off with the captain. For playing an impressive and anchor knock of 47 NO to go with his 4 wickets, Pratik earned the MoM award

Thanks to GHCC for a game played in a good spirit and the pizza lunch.
