Match Report TACC won the toss and elected to bat on cool and overcast day. Weather conditions were vastly different from the last time TACC visited Greenville, (when it was 40F and overcast and in 2007 it was 104 degrees). The opening batsmen Nitant and Devendra justified the decision to bat by easily playing out the opening 8 overs. Nitant especially was looking comfortable and smashed a six to signal his intentions.
Things though went quickly bad, with both Nitant and Devendra playing down wrong line and a tough lbw decision going against #3 Vishwas. TACC lost two more quick wickets to end up at 50/5 from 15 overs. Resistance soon started to take shape in the form of #4 Pradeep, vice captain Vikrant and Varun Patel chipping in to take the score to 77/7 in 23 overs. At this point TCC was in trouble.
From here the TACC lower end put their thought and action together and went to hit out. Vikram brought in the initial momentum with a brisk 19 in a partnership of 49 with Pradeep. Last 4 overs saw a real push with Varun U and Pradeep hitting out and scoring 47 to get TACC to a respectable 180.
Varun U gave the initial breakthrough with two quick wickets. This led to an attacking response from GHCC as #4 Mozzam hit a quickfire 37. By the first drink break GHCC had scored 91 runs in 12 overs for the loss of two wickets. 90 more runs were needed with 2 strong batsmen on the ground and more batsmen to follow. TACC seem to be loosing this one. The match took a decisive turn at the first over after drinks, when Sumanth priced out the two in-form batsmen Mozzam and Piyush. GHCC never recovered from the double blow and succumbed to 138 all out.
Man of the match: Pradeep Sudini, for his patient 56 NO holding the TACC batting together. Umpire Report Excellent umpiring by Chak, CWCC's umpire. TACC appreciate your effort.
CWCC's Captain made a personal call to TACC to apologies for providing 1 umpire short. The last minute pull out of the second umpire came as a surprise to the Captain and he himself being busy was not able to find a replacement in the given short notice. TACC understands completely. There were some heart-burns on the ground due to not having neutral umpires but I am sure both the playing teams understand.
Chak from CWCC did a great job! It must have been tough for him because he was the only neutral umpire. -GHCC |
