Match Report TWCC won the toss on a hot day and elected to field first. Swapnil and Hemant gave NCSU the perfect start without losing wickets through the first session of play. The openers showed great skill playing some sound cricketing shots without giving any chances and they raced to 97 before Swapnil fell to Sanjay Patel. Hemant showing great touch from the first over continued to keep the scoring rate high and along with Vivek put NCSU at a commanding position past the half way mark. Some good bowling by Kenneth in the middle overs along with Sanjay Patel saw NCSU struggling at 148 for 6 shortly after the second drinks break. Hiren and Ajinkya played sensible cricket by rotating the strike and playing themselves in thereafter. The last 4 overs saw NCSU accelerate past the 200 mark thanks largely to some explosive batting from Hiren with huge sixes over midwicket and boundaries straight down the wicket with Ajinkya giving him great support by anchoring the innings. TWCC had a slow start with some effective bowling from Hiren and Sami. Anthony was the first to be dismissed by a good catch at slip by Priyesh off the bowling of Sami. Sami also managed to runout Arjun from mid off which brought in Kenneth Williams. Unfortunately Kenneth top edged a pull shot of Sami's bowling onto his chin forcing him to retire from the game. Hiren quickly dismissed Sanjay and effected a runout soon later to leave TWCC struggling at 55 for 5. Bhavani then raced through the middle and lower order with a great spell leaving TWCC all out at 72.
NCSU nominates Hiren Patel for the Man of the Match for his outstanding batting (47*,36b, 3x4, 3x6) and bowling (5-1-17-1) and a runout.
Match report by Vivek Umpire Report Umpiring from KMCC was consistent through the game. The umpires stood by their decisions in a couple of tough situations. |
