Match Report
TACC visited Charlottesville on a beautiful spring day. The previous meeting between the two teams (2008) at the Temple ground ended in an exciting tie, which added to the significance of this year’s game. Praveen won the toss and elected to bat first. Nitant and Devendra were playing their shots well until Ashish induced an error by Nitant- caught at deep mid-on by the ever-reliable Noman. Soon Praveen was out bowled by Noman. Vikram, who was batting fluently scoring 14 runs in one over including a huge sixer, was also bowled by Noman. Mohit struck twice and soon TACC was in trouble at 68 for 7 in 12 overs. The two youngsters Vikrant and Harsh came to the rescue. Displaying mature shot-selection and sound temperament, they built a crucial a 30-run partnership which ended when Kunal picked a caught-and-bowled off his shoe laces to dismiss Harsh. Vishwas and Vikrant then added valuable runs to the total. Hiral’s brilliant stumping off Kunal sent Vishwas back and Sameer caught the last batsman at point, also off Kunal. TACC was all out for 148 in 30.5 overs.

Sameer, a UVA student playing his first match for CVCC, gave a fine account of himself to the league. Striking the ball with awesome power on either side of the wicket, Sameer dominated the bowlers right from the first over. The pull shot over the square leg and the front foot drive over the infield were on song and disrupted the rhythm of the TACC bowlers. Vishwas tested him with some good yorkers and Harsh varied the flight of his off-spinners beautifully but to no avail as Sameer’s defense was as solid as his attack today. CVCC raced to a 9-wkt victory in 16.4 overs. Sameer scored 104 n.o in 53 balls with 11 sixers and 4 boundaries. Kunal, who took 3 wickets earlier in the day, remained unbeaten on 26.

CVCC thanks TACC for visiting and displaying fine sportsmanship.

We nominate Sameer as man of the match for his 104 n.o.
