Match Report TWCC registered their second win of the season in a comfortable manner to beat TACC by five wickets. TWCC's skipper Anthony won the toss and invited the opposition to bat in bowler-friendly conditions. The outfield was outrageously thick, hitting a boundary on the ground was almost impossible. Nitin and Mahesh opened the bowling for TWCC and bowled as tight as any opening bowling pair in world cricket, at the eight over mark, TACC only managed 16 runs with just the 2 fielders outside the circle. After Pulkit's lone over, Rajesh came on the attack and continued the good work that the opening bowlers did at the start of the innings, then Nitant, who was out of character, with a lot of patience finally succumbed to the pressure chipped to Rajesh and was brilliantly stumped by Anthony. Before he turned around, Anthony had the bails off and started celebrating. Vikram came to the creased and didn't last too long as Nitin clean bowled him and picked his first wicket of the 2009 season. Praveen was looking to anchor the innings before he was forced to retire hurt. TACC's batsmen started to get comfortable at the crease and at one stage, were 80 for 3. TWCC was not looking to let that disciplined bowling by the openers go to waste. Man on the Match Nisaraj came in to bowl, and along with Kenneth Williams, tore apart TACC's middle order and tail. Nisaraj got the vital wicket of Praveen, who came back out to bat with a runner, and at one stage was on a hat-trick. Kenneth finished the innings off by shattering Galib's stumps to leave TWCC's deep batting lineup a modest target of 120. TWCC's batsmen came out with the plan of knocking the runs off as soon as possible but had a few tough decisions against them, Rajesh was adjudged LBW to a ball that looked like it was heading over the stumps, and Anthony, who looked in devastating form after hitting 4 clean sixes and a glorious cover drive through the thick outfield, was given out caught behind to a bouncer that apparently looked like it missed everything on it's way down the leg side for a wide. Kenneth Williams was brilliantly run out by the exciting young cricketer Harsh Patel. TACC thought they had a chance after TWCC slipped to 70 for the loss of 4 wickets, but Pulkit Gulati, and the stylish left hander, Gavin Persaud, played with ease and sensibility to make the score level. After all the hard work, Pulkit chipped one of Harsh's leg spinner to square leg to Supem the substitute fielder who tokk a comfortable catch. The next over, Gavin, who apparently has a liking to TACC's bowling attack, averaging over 50 against them, hammered the medium-pacer Vikram to the square leg boundary to seal the deal for TWCC.
Man of the Match: Nisaraj Umpire Report Apart from a few errors, the umpiring was good, nobody's perfect. Thanks to UICC for providing the umpires. |
