Match Report
DCC breaks RCC jinx with a 1-sided victory

A Canadian coin was brought for toss and, after debating out which side was heads/tails, the 2 Captains tossed. RCC won and elected to bowl.

The first ball of the match set the tone for the enirte game! Ivan whacked the opening delivery from Keyur Sanghani over square leg boundary. Pratik was the hobson's choice for the other opening slot to get the batsman to form. Keyur S, who is usually very reliable was forced not to err even a tiny bit. Otherwise, Ivan dispatched the balls to Barbee's house. Miraj could also not check the run flow at the other end. Pratik, after playing a few dot balls, got back in grove with a 6 and a 4 of consecutive balls to open his account. Ivan made 22 all of which came from boundary shots and DCC was on top gear at 39 in the 4th over. But, Miraj forced Ivan to hit a ball towards long off where Chirag took a neat double tap catch to dismiss what they thought was the danger man. But danger gave way to terror. Sanjeewa walked and continued where Ivan left.

There is no point in going over the fantastic way Sanjeewa and Pratik built the innings so we will keep it brief. They crafted the innings to perfection while maintaining a high scoring rate. The shots they played were spectacluar beauties. Sri, Satbir, Chirag and Dharmesh tried their best but could not just stop the pair from their free flowing game. RCC was desperately looking for a breakthrough to tighten the run-off problem but that never happened. DCC was just trying to avoid losing wickets that would slow things down. Pratik and Sanjeewa were ominously well set by the 15th over and DCC was at 127/1. After the mid-break, the duo stepped the gas even further and went wild. Together, they played till the 22nd over. Then, Sanjeewa holed out to Keyur P at deep long-on but by then DCC's score was nearly 200. Ravi then started scoring runs in style stroking the ball on the gaps to begin with. On the 25th over, Satbir took the elusive wicket of the Captain. But the stage was all set for DCC with the hard work done by Sanjeewa's (72) and Pratik (73). Rao and Ravi just fed off that momentum and continued to pile on runs for DCC. When Ravi was trapped plumb in front by Keyur S, Rao and Shankar provided the final push to score 32 of the last 2 overs to take DCC to a huge score of 277/5.

The opening pair of Satbir and Sam played very sensibly and smartly decided not to go flat out as it may prove suicidal otherwise. They started to methodically work against Mahesh and Hari at 5-6 runs per over but Rahul came back strong to remove both the opening batsman by making them hit to Mr. Safe Hands, Mahesh. Actually the former Capt made a tough running catch look very easy to dismiss Satbir for 27. Before that, Chirag tried to go after Ivan but Hari took the dream catch of his life by judging a fast dropping over-the-head skier at long-on to perfection and leaping on to it behind his head for the "catch of the week". Then wickets started falling at regular intervals spearheaded by debutant Murali's leg-spin. Murali started off with fantastic loop and deep spin. It was clear that if batsman tried to go after him, there can be only 1 result - a walk back to the pavillion. Therefore, RCC batsman decided to play smart and grinded the bowling attack. Although Keyur P went quiet for a long duration of time, he got badly tempted to use his feet to go for the big one and was promptly stumped by Sanjeewa for Murali's 2nd wicket. The spinner finished with awesome figures of 6-1-16-2, not bad for a first MACC match. At the other end, Ravi started vying for the Man of the Match award as he started uprooting stumps after stumps. He finished with even better figures of 4-0-10-3. By the end, RCC had only managed 115/8 in 30 overs to give DCC a 162 run victory. This also ends DCC's nightmare with RCC which had been eliminating the former from getting to the playoffs for 3 consecutive times.

Man of the match: Tough one with Sanjeewa/Pratik/Ravi all doing a great job.
