Match Report
Predicting rain in the latter half of the day, both the captains and the umpires agreed to play 30 overs. GCC won the toss and elected to bat first. After losing its first wicket early in the 2nd over, TACC was all happy and joy-iced. Then the monster Divyesh came in the center and along with JanMay started a firm partnership. TACC had no idea of what’s coming their way. Divyesh thrashed the TACC blowers one after the other and Janmay on the other hand played a supporting role to ensure that there were no lose-ends. Both of them cruised to the first milestone by making 50 runs each with a partnership of 154 runs. Divyesh ended with 74(39) and Janmay 80(82) balls. After the fall of Divyesh, The captain of GCC Sunny walked to the center and continued where Divyesh left off. He took the TACC bowlers to the cleaners and smashed anything that was thrown at him. He scored an excellent knock of 66 of just 26 balls. All the bowlers of TACC were hammered by the guns of GCC as the bowlers had no margin of room to ball, as if GCC’s batsmen’s were seeing a football coming to them rather than a cricket ball. Finally, GCC put up a huge score on the board 274 for 8

Chasing such a big score and requiring over 9 runs in an over from the start was always going to be tough for the TACC batsmen’s. Pulkit and Vikrant opened the innings for TACC. In the first over itself Pulkit was dropped for 0 which nearly came back to haunt GCC. He smashed GCC bowlers and scored 87 off 60 balls. He and Vikrant had an opening stand of 134 runs. Finally, Jayul gave the first break threw to GCC which made Vikram to walk in the center. He continued to join Pulkit and kept the run-rate in check. Mayank didn’t have a good day with the ball, as he was crushed by Pulkit. Hitesh was brought into the attack and bowled some good overs to bring GCC back in the game. He bowled an excellent spell of 6 – 40 – 3. Kishan was brought back into the attack after TACC decided to take the power play to bring the run-rate down which was climbing over 12 an over. He got rid of Vikram by knocking the off stump. In the end, it was the matter of which team is going to hold their nerve better than the other and GCC in the end won by 20 runs to give them a 3 game winning streak and taking the top spot in the tournament.
