Playoff Special Rules and Conditions: (2003)
1) The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played on the first
available weekend date (i.e. saturday) for a specific game, with the
intention that as many backup dates as feasible are available in case
of
rain. However, only 2 weekends will be set aside for each game. If a
result cannot be achieved in the 2 weekends due to rain, the higher
seed
moves on to the next round.
2) All games will be played at the home ground of the higher seed.
3) The host teams must ensure the availability of their field on all
dates set aside for the game(s). IF field availability is a problem
(not due to rain or conflict with another equal round scheduled game),
then the EC will shift the game to the lower seed's home ground, unless
the game can be completed on one of the dates within the 2 weekends at
the higher seed's ground itself. If alternatively the ground is
unavailable at both teams homes for the said dates, the EC will have
the
authority to move the game to the nearest available neutral ground.
4) A game can be played on the sunday of the specified weekend slotted
for the game only if both teams mutually agree to it. Else the game
will be played on the first day of the weekend i.e. saturday.
5) Priority will be given to the earlier round games when two rounds
conflict with each other for the same date and field. In that case the
next round date(s) and its backup date(s) will be postponed
accordingly.
For example if a semifinal needs to be played and a rained out QF from
the previous weekend needs to be played, the QF will be given the first
priority for both dates of that weekend.
In that case the involved semifinal teams need to be ready to play on
the next day (sunday) provided the QF was completed. In that case the
SF will be moved completely to the next set of 2 weekends as the
original
and backup dates.
In the above scenario, in case one of the teams involved in that QF is
slated to be playing in the next day's semifinals, the semifinal will
be
completely moved to the next weekend, along with the backup dates. Same
logic will be applied in the case of a SF-Final conflict of dates
situation.
6) In case of a tie in the playoffs please refer to MACC rules and
regulations (Specifically #26), and Bylaws. The rules DO provide for a
tie breaker in case of played games that end up being a tie. Please
familiarize yourselves with those rules.
7) In case the QFs are completed (or two of the QF) have completed the
match on time, the SFs will be played the following weekend.
In the above scenario, If QF1 & QF4 or QF2 & QF3 is completed, the SF
will be played on the next weekend.
8) All other MACC Rules and Regulations, and Bylaws are applicable
where relevant.
9) Prizes for winners, runners-up, Best Bowler, Best batsman, All
rounder, Man of match for each QF,SF and Final as we did last year.
Some
additional prizes were discussed earlier this year, and then dropped
like hot
potato.
10) The Umpiring committee is working at a feverish pace getting the
umpire assignments. Teams will be kept posted.
