Recently there was an email by Simon in our MACC Group. The e-mail reminded us how Cricket should be played as a gentlemen's game. Seldom we remember the things we were supposed to do as Cricketers.
Simon wrote this email in reply to RCC's win over ANZACs in Round 10
Far more importantly,
however, the ANZACs have always enjoyed playing RCC, win or lose. RCC plays the
game in a great spirit and here are just a few reasons why:
1. Ready on time
2. The skipper, Vipul, knew what his team would do if they won the toss, BEFORE
the coin was tossed
3. No unnecessary appeals to the umpire for LBW and so forth
4. No dissent to the umpire
5. No constant (reactionary) field changes
6. Short drinks breaks, as they should be, and a short break, as agreed, between
innings
7. No unnecessary drinks "interludes" during the innings, particularly while
batting
8. Able to complete a 60 over game in under 4.5 hours with breaks and many ball
recovery stoppages
RCC set the standard many other teams should strive for in this league.
Also, I think both teams would like to congratulate Brian for his efforts as
umpire. He was very consistent and fair all day. There were
no LBWs in the whole game, and very few wides called, as it should be.
