BCC 139 all out 29.2 over
GRCC 140/7 in 29 overs
Man Of the Match: Amarnath Sambasivam
On a wet outfield and after some hardwork by Vicky A and Ramesh to make the
pitch playable. We won the toss and elected to field with the thought that on a
wet field runs would be hard to come.
Raj opened the bowling and immediately hit his immaculate line not giving away
anything. The dangerous Bhavesh was caught behind for 2 off the first ball of
the second over off Dhiren. BCC then built a steady partnership between Nomaan
and Vishal and guided BCC to 67/1 in the first 15 overs. GRCC had lost the
adavantage and under the sun the field had already dried and runs were flowing
easily. But the first ball after the break Ramesh got Nomaan edging a delivery
to the wicketkeeper. The next 15 overs belonged to GRCC. Ramesh, Khanna, Hari
bowled an immaculate line frustrating the BCC batsmen into errors. Kiran again
approached Khanna's spin bowling with a cavalier attitude and managed to hole
out to Ramesh at Mid on and left the field a dejected man. Vishal while playing
a steady innings had a rush of blood and tried to take on Khanna and holed out
to Hari strategically placed at Midon. Hari's immaculate line left Mansoor with
absolutely no clue eventually having his off and middle stump uprooted. The
hitters towards the end came swung their bat around while watching their stumps
uprooted as Dhiren finished of the tail with 4 consecutive wickets. BCC were all
out for 139 in 29.2 overs.
Sravan got the GRCC innings off to a good start with a beautiful square cut of
Vishal but perished in the same over edging the ball to Bhavesh. The same
happened to Vicky C as the law of averages finally cought up to the frenetic run
spree he has set this season and was caught behind off Vishal. Salim and Ramesh
then steadied GRCC's boat. Ramesh cleverly giving strike to Salim who was
shaping up to play a beautiful innings. An effortless leg glance off Raju Patel
was deposited beyond the ropes. After scoring 23 Salim was a victim of the wet
pitch, played early and an outside edge balooned to Rakesh Goel. Amarnath lost
Khanna against the run of play as he played on. Amarnath then took over and
orchestrated two back to back 35 run partnerships with Vicky C and Dhiren.
Eventually the game was evenly poised at 7 runs off 7 balls in the end. The last
ball of the penultimate over by Rakesh Goel was deposited over his head for a
magnificent six by Amarnath. He eventually finished wiith an unbeaten 62. With 1
run remaining to get of the last over Raju Patel brought the field in but gifted
the victory to GRCC by bowling a wide.
