Match Report:
It was 3rd game at home and CLCC was still seeking for a home
win, Well it rained very heavily few days back and it looked almost impossible
to play, but we were wrong. field was very damp, but sure was playable. Lions
were there on time and so were the Umpires from HPCC, eagerly waiting for COCC
to arrive. As soon as COCC arrived Umpires called for a toss, COCC won the Toss
and elected to bat as the weather channel was calling for the 4:00 pm rain.
COCC sent out there openers in no time and the game begin around 10:45 am.
Chetan took the charge to open lions bowling and Abhi joined him on the other
end. Both of this bowler bowled very well, runs were very hard to come. One
after another overs were passing by and COCC were losing wickets and not getting
hardly any runs. At 15 over COCC was 48/3, superb start by lions. Due to
pressure, batsman were forced to play wrong shots and guess what, Keyur a solid
batsman lost his control when he missed a straight ball trying to play towards
mid-wicket got out LBW by mayur, a very important wicket. But Captain Dipak
joined Arvind, Runs started to come for COCC. But Arvind got LBW by Mayur just
when they both look set. Paul joined dipak and they both played a very good
cricket, Dipak scored 46 and Paul 18 took COCC to a score of 133 in 30 overs.
Saurabh Bowled a very well spell, 5-1-9-2. All the bowlers did there work. it
was time to show some batting. CLCC opened there innings with Shashi and Pk, But Shashi Could not stay long when he completely missed a ball
and gave a easy catch. But PK was rock solid and stayed on the other end till
the 16th over, When trying to improve the runrate he lost his wicket at his
individual score of 19 when CLCC was 67/3. Abhi showed some nice batting and
scored quick 29 when he lost his wicket just when CLCC was smelling victory.
Saurabh on the other end was holding his wicket and working singles here and
there, Gaurang join him, things were getting tight, After Abhi's wicket COCC
came back hard and the runs were impossible to come. Gaurang could not take
anymore pressure, Do or Die situation for him, since he missed so many balls.
Guess what, he did turn the table in no time he scored 32 and CLCC were only 5
runs short of victory , Superb knock by Gaurang. Chetan came and finihed the
game in 3 balls hitting 8 runs. First Home court Win, WOW great teamwork in
absence of few key players. Lions roared at home. Our Man Of
the Match was Saurabh 5-1-9-2, 1 Run Out and valuable 18 runs.
Finally, Lions are really grateful to Rafiq bhai (Mr. Rafiq Lakhani) for being
an excellent patron for the team as well as for the game. Not only he lets Lions
call the fantastic Gastonia ground their home field, he always provides
excellent post match dishes which are delicacy in any given day. Before this
match Lions captain Shashi requested Rafiq bhai to give the inconsistent Lions a
pep talk. It worked and Lions responded by thumping Columbia with an under
strength team.
Lions wholeheartedly thank Rafiq bhai for his help and for his passion for the game.
