Main Umpire: Johny Leg Umpire: Deependra
Report:
OCC v/s PCC on June 5, 2004 : OCC Won by 4 Wickets
Man of the Match: Ninad Vartak
The match was played under overcast conditions and light drizzle. TWCC umpired
Johny and Deependra came to umpire in bad weather and did a great job being
patient as the players from both teams worked on the pitch to dry it for the
match. We could start the match at around 11:30, PCC won the toss and elected to
Bat.
PCC Innings: The conditions were difficult for bowlers and batsmen. The ball was
not coming to the bat and playing on the up was difficult on the slow wicket. As
far as the bowlers are concerned, it was difficult to grip the wet ball. PCC
played well in the begining, but OCC controlled the scoring rate in the last 5
overs to restrict PCC to 167 for 7 of their 30 overs. Kapil with 64 and Aamar
with 37 did the bulk of the scoring. Ground fielding by OCC was of a very high
standard although one catch was dropped. Gauri bowled a great opening spell and
finished with 2 wickets for 16 runs in his 6 overs. Tanmay bowled his 6 overs
economically giving away only 23 runs and took the important wicket of Irfan,
PCC captain. Vishal and Abhijit took a wicket each and Sameer took 2 wickets.
OCC Innings: OCC started their chase well with Sandeep and Ninad scoring at over
6 runs an over, but then soon Sandeep and Ashish fell in quick succession. Ninad
continued his aggression with Prithvi and the two took the score to 100 before
they fell in quick succession. 54 runs were required of the last 10 overs with 6
wickets in hand. Tanmay played a sensible innings that included a big six of
Kapil that eased the pressure. He made 22 not out and stayed till the end. he
was well supported by Vishal (8 runs), Abhijit (8 runs) and Anup (14 runs,
including the winning boundary). OCC won the game with 10 balls to spare by
scoring 169 for 7 in 28.2 overs. Ninad top scored in the match with an
aggressive 67. Sandeep scored 20 and Prithvi added 14 for OCC.
OCC is now 2-2 for the season.
