ROCC have been participating in MACC league since last 3 yrs. We all
basically play cricket for the love of game. But this year has been different.
Because of efforts and hard work of the leading members of Indian community we
finally have a ground and a pitch of our own. With a little more levelling I
think this could be a great place to play cricket. Anyway about the game....
Let me take this oppurtunity to thank CCVT for hosting our home game on their
ground because of some delay in getting our ground ready.
CCCC were right on time but they looked half asleep and lethargic ( 3 hrs of
drive can do that to you too). But they warmed up and were ready to start I
should say even before us. Sarat won the toss and send us to bat. We started on
positive note with 2 boundries in the first over but we kept on lossing some
important wickets. Today was a different day though. We did not throw our
wickets away. Scorer was kept busy with ones, twos and sixes. Everybody
contributed to the total of 193. Hari, who has been having itching in his palms
since last 2 months scored 45.
After having pizza for lunch CCCC began their quest for 194. They started well
but the openers fell to some good catching. They kept on losing their wickets
and ROCC were already thinking about what to do for dinner. Parag Sameer and
Sayeed batted very well for CCCC. At one point when Parag was getting his strong
wild swings over the ropes we thought that its going to be usual story for us.
But then the luck shined on us and Jiju* leaped on a on drive by Sameer and with
Asutosh's assistance knocked down the wicket's on non stricker's end with Parag
miles far from the crease. I would say this was one of a major turning points (
there is never one turning point in a game, everybody has to contribute if they
dont want to win ). Sameer and Sayeed who had brought some hope in CCCC camp
were then stumped beautifully by Dakshin. ROCC had to just keep the ball on
stumps to get the rest of CCCC batsmen out.
I think this was a great game by both teams. Talking about ROCC everybody played
well. Eventhough 2-3 of our regular team members had to miss this game the non
regulars did a very good job. On behalf of whole team I would like to
congratulate and appreciate Dakshin on showing tremendous character. He kept and
did a great job even with a pulled thigh. "keep" it up.As a pace bowler its
always comforting to have a reliable keeper like u.
"MEN" of the match : Hari 45 runs 5-22-2
Vishal 42 runs 5.3-24-3
Special thanks to Miten and Azar ( CCVT ) for officiating this game. You guys
showed great professionalism and were RIGHT ON ( I think even visitors would
agree with that ).
DCC are you ready.......
