Report:

Man of the Match: Vicky Channaraj

GRCC won the toss and elected to bat. GRCC got of to a steady start, importantly not losing any wickets in the first 7 overs. To PCC's credit they bowled a tight line and bowling well within themselves. But the scoreboard continued to move at about 3.5-4 rpo. GRCC seemed to be in trouble when we lost three wickets in the space of 10 overs and run rate not going anywhere but the key again was we had wickets in hand for the final onslaught. We reached 83 runs in 22 overs however Vicky C was playing a watchful innings and played excellently within the V. The break at 22 overs was when GRCC decided to show who was boss. Then the onslaught started with 6 wickets in hands we went for broke and it paid off. Vicky C being severe on all bowlers but picking Bilal for some special treatment. He hit 5 towering sixes and 4 cracking fours and in the end was unbeaten with 75. He was well supported by Jalal, Dhiren, Hari and Aman. GRCC had scored 94 runs in the last 8 overs finishing with 177 in 30 overs. The deluge of runs had left PCC demoralized.

GRCC then knowing they had the upper hand went for the kill. Solomon who has been in excellent form went first ball of the innings. Sam Miller then departed 5 balls later. PCC had lost 2 wickets in the first over with two of their highest scoring batsmen in the pavillion. Ammar and Murali played a slow innings without taking any chances but never ever coming close to the asking rate and GRCC was happy to oblige. Khanna bowled an excellent spell once again getting the respect he deserved from the PCC batsmen after his hat-trick in the previous game. Only Irfan stood between GRCC and victory. Irfan sensing the pressure to score quickly against a disciplined attack fell to Hari. GRCC held on to all their catches and the rest of the game was a formality, PCC was finally bundled out for 144 in 27.4.

We would like to thank TWCC for providing two excellent umpires in Jayesh and Ankur, they kept the game under control throughout and were very consistent with all their decisions. Thanks once again.
