Report:
PACC won the toss and elected to bat on a perfect day for
cricket. GRCC used the cloudy conditions to get enough swing to make the openers
uncomfortable. In the early going it was all Ramesh for GRCC. He struck back to
back blows in his first over (which was a maiden) by removing Imran (bowled) &
Saqib (lbw) thorugh his usual inswingers to get PACC to 5/2. He got Jansher in
his 2nd over (when a delivery bounced more than expected to give ramesh a simple
catch) and Murtaza in his 4th over (caught by Vicky A at deep point), PACC was
22/4. Hari & Milon kept it tight in the other end. Ramesh was replaced by Raj,
who immediately struck with his first ball by bowling Wasim, PACC was 31/5. PACC
tried to recover from this debacle through Nazir and their strong lower middle
order. At the break (13 overs) PACC were 53/5 thanks to some good hitting by
Nazir. After the break there were double blows for PACC. After being frustrated
by Raj Nazir to hit him out but found Milon at Sweeper and Khanna followed this
by taking Bilal'swicket caught behind, PACC 57/7. The expected recovery from
PACC was not there to be found and they ended up with 96 all out in 26.5 overs.
Good bowling by Raj, Ramesh and company. With 97 to get GRCC was confident. PACC
struck on the first ball of the innings by bowling Nat and followed this up with
quick wickets of Amar and Khanna to reduce GRCC to 15/3 in 4 overs. Good bowling
by Kamran and Shami shook GRCC's top order. In came Ramesh & Vicky C, who put
together a sensible 25 run partnership that steadied GRCC's innings. PACC again
struck through Jansher, when he picked up Ramesh lbw for 16, GRCC 40/4 in 12
overs. Shas joined Vicky C and put together a 45 run partnership that sealed
things for us. The final glimer of hope that Ramesh's wicket gave PACC was
extinguished. Shas got out when the score was on 85 and Vicky C and Vicky A
scored the final 11 runs with minimal ease. Vicky C ended with 30 not out. Would
like to thank Ron & Shiva for their consistent umpiring. Man of the Match:
Ramesh for 6-2-15-4 & 16 runs.
