Report:

GRCC won the toss (thanks to amar not calling for the toss) and elected to bat on a awesome day for cricket. Amar and Nat opened the innings positively. TCC bowled and fielded well in the first 10 overs. This for Nat (run out for 13) and Vicky C (caught at deep point for 9, great one handed catch by Manoj) and Amar (bowled for 6). This reduced GRCC to 36/3 in 7 overs. Shas and Khanna came together and steadied the ship with sensible batting. They took what the bowling gave them and put together 69 run partnership to bring GRCC to 105/3 in 20 overs. In trying to accelerate Khanna fell for 26. Shas carried along inspite of a losing wicket at regular intervals in the other end to bring GRCC to a respectable total of 172/9 in 30 overs. Shas remained not out on 59 and Nataraj of TCC ended with 5 wickets. TCC started well by scoring 24 runs in 4 overs thanks to some initial wayward bowling. After this Ramesh and Milon settled things. Ramesh got the first break through in the fifth over when Ravi edged him to Shas. Aravind was the next to go when he hit Milon straight to Amar at cover to reduce TCC to 25/2. TCC were in slight discomfort with Milon's pace and Raj's accurate bowling from the other. Sundar (played on of Milon) and Vijay (run out by Nat/Shas) succemmed to the rising pressure as the runs were choked from both ends to reduce TCC to 50/4 in 12 overs. In came Charan to join Shibu and immediately started playing his booming shots. Just when the partnership Shibu dragged his foot outside the crease and was stumped by Shas of Khanna with the score on 69 (15 overs). Charan and Rajesh played sensibly and put together a 34 run partnership that brought TCC back in to the game (108 in 20 overs). With 65 runs needed in 10 overs and 5 wickets in hand the game was well poised to go in either direction. GRCC gave the easy single to Charan and got the 4 wickets at the other end. Dhiren got us 2 vital break throughs one by trapping Rajesh LBW with score on 108 and Neeraj caught behind. Amar accounted for Manoj caught at deep mid wicket, Shas got Amar run out and Ramesh finished TCC by getting Nataraj for 138 in 25.3 overs. Good, clean game by both teams. Thanks to great consistent umpiring by Ninad, Arshad and Solomon. Man of the Match: Shas - 59 runs, 2 catches, 2 run outs & 1 stumping.
