So far only NCSU and DCC have agreed to do umpiring for playoffs. We
have Ron Knight, Fergus Robertson and Dave Kumar as neutral umpires.
Ron Knight is willing to do umpiring anywhere but he prefers
Saturdays. Fergus Robertson can do umpiring only on Sundays and Dave
Kumar will be available from Sep 17-18 weekend. EC will appreciate
teams who are willing to do umpiring for playoffs. Otherwise EC will
step up and designate umpires for playoff games. Please refer to
rules for playoff, specially rule #13 for umpiring.

Umpiring schedule for Pre-Quarterfinals will be published soon.

Thanks and Good luck,

Playoff-Special Rules and Conditions:

1) The Pre Quarterfinals, Quarterfinals and Semifinals will be
played on the first available weekend date (i.e. Saturday) for a
specific game, with the intention that as many backup dates as
feasible are available in case of rain. However, only two (2)
weekends will be set aside for each game. If a result cannot be
achieved in the two weekends due to rain, the higher seed moves on
to the next round.

2) All games will be played at the home ground of the higher seed.

3) The host teams must ensure the availability of their field on all
dates set aside for the game(s). IF field availability is a problem
(not due to rain or conflict with another equal round scheduled
game), then the EC will shift the game to the lower seed's home
ground, unless the game can be completed on one of the dates within
the 2 weekends at the higher seed's ground itself. If alternatively
the ground is unavailable at both teams homes for the said dates,
the EC will have the authority to move the game to the nearest
available neutral ground.

4) Special Conditions for Shiloh and High Point Teams:
For Pre Quarterfinals, Raleigh has 2 teams needing the ground on the
same weekend. Hence the higher seed that is RCC was given priority
and assigned the date of their choice' that is Sunday September 11,
2005 for their game. If both games on that weekend are washed out at
Shiloh, then they will have the backup dates of September 17-18,
2005. However, if only one of the games is completed on the first
weekend the washed out game will have to be played on the first
available date of the next weekend that is Saturday, unless both
teams agree to play the game on the sunday. PACC and HPCC have
decided to play on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

5) A game can be played on the Sunday of the specified weekend
slotted for the game only if both teams mutually agree to it. Else
the game will be played on the first day of the weekend that is
Saturday.

6) Priority will be given to the earlier round games when two rounds
conflict with each other for the same date and field. In that case
the next round date(s) and its backup date(s) will be postponed
accordingly. I do not think we need this year.

7) In case all four or some of Pre Quarterfinal games were completed
on the weekend of September 10-11, then Quarterfinals will start on
the weekend of September 18 and 19 with the backup dates of
September 24 and 25. The same way it will go for Semifinals.

8) In case of a tie in the playoffs please refer to MACC rules and
regulations (Specifically #26), and Bylaws. The rules DO provide for
a tie breaker in case of played games that end up being a tie.
Please familiarize yourselves with those rules.

9) All other MACC Rules and Regulations, and Bylaws are applicable
where relevant.

10) Prizes for winners (15 trophies) and runners-up (15 trophies),
best team in first round, best batsman, best bowler and best
fielder, man of the match for Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Final.

11) League will reimburse for playoff balls either in the form of
cricket balls or not charge in the next shipment.

12) Eligible Players for the playoffs would be as per the MACC rules
i.e. "A player is eligible to play for the playoffs only if he has
played in 2 FINISHED games during the season from that team".

13) From this year MACC will pay $25 plus 20 cents/mile to each
umpire, who will officiate in any playoff games.

14) MACC will also enforce the penalty for not submitting scorecard
by Wednesday midnight and for not sending umpire(s) for any playoff
games.

15) Unless EC designate umpire for any playoff game, the losing team
in the last round will be required to umpire. For e.g: Losing team
from Quarterfinals will umpire for Semifinals.
